ASME provides an opportunity for students to begin their professional career by joining an internationally recognized engineering society. Students are informed of recent developments in the field of mechanical engineering through local company tours, meetings and interaction with other student sections and professional sectors of society.

Announcements:

April 30, 2008:

  • John Robinson will be this week's speaker. Mr. Robinson is an ME in the Navy and is the Chief Engineer of South West Regional Maintenance Center here in San Diego. He will be talking about the different aspects of being an Engineer while serving in the military.

April 15, 2008:

  • Josh Moore will be the speaker for this coming weeks meeting. He works at San Diego Composites, Inc. and will be presenting on Composite Tactical Missile and Missile Defense Structures. We will also be holding another raffle this week. The prizes will be thumb drives in varying sizes, digital multimeter and Mr. Moore will be providing some composite material keychains and other assorted goodies for the raffle. We will also be holding officer elections for next year, so be sure to show up and vote.

March 17, 2008:

  • Lenny Barbod is going to be the speaker for Thursday. He works at Abbott Vascular (it is one of the world's leading vascular care businesses). He will be talking about the engineering behind cypher heart stents, the results of the products and how they are being used. We also be holding a raffle at this week's meeting. The cost of one ticket is $1. We will be raffling off several sizes of thumbdrives and a digital multi-meter.

March 4, 2008:

  • At Thursday's meeting, we will have a guest speaker by the name of Mr. Scott Hock. Mr. Hock will be presenting to us the various aspects of intellectual property rights. Mr Hock has worked for HP for over 20 years and holds numerous patents. Intellectual property rights applies to all facets of engineering, so if you know someone who might be interested, invite them to come check it out.

February 19, 2008:

  • At this weeks meeting we will be giving update on the various projects that ASME is involved in. If you are interested in participating in any ongoing or upcoming projects, please stop by and check them out.

February 6, 2008:

  • Larry Hinkle will be conducting his outstanding resume workshop for us at this week's meeting. Be sure to bring a copy of you resume.
